Craigslist?

I always post
PLEASE PUT FISHFINDER IN SUBJECT LINE OR I WILL NOT REPLY....(or whatever you're selling, as long as it's not the same as the listing title)
This is an email I received just last week about a $75 fishfinder I'm selling...LOL

Hello. Hope you doing great. I was told by my assistant that your item is still for sale,i would have love to come and see it,but my scheduled is very tight.I will mail out your payment once you provide your full name.phone number and address or P O Box. I can only pay via Money Order, as am on a business trip now in the UK,pls let me know where to send your payment to because i wouldn't want to lose it to some else.I don't mind adding ($50) dollars so you can keep it in my favor, you should get your payment in 3-5 working days i will appreciate if you can get the ad off craigslist so i can be sure you are keeping it in my favor. Please let me know as soon as you receive it so i can start making arrangement for the pick-up.
Thanks

They are obviously all scams. They are generic - they don't mention the actual item, they are always too busy to get the "item", so there is a third party shipper involved, they won't deal in cash, and the English is choppy. These sob's need to go get a life.

I put my rental properties up on Craigslist, and my eventual clients tell me there are a lot of scams where people hijack listing information for legitimate homes for sale and put it on Craigslist as rentals, and ask for deposits to be sent out of town, and the landlord will mail the keys.

As the landlord, I’ve received some really odd responses.

Over eight years I’ve learned:

If it looks weird, it is. If the weirdo is just stupid, too bad, a better prospect will come along. Patience is key. I put my ad up blind, meaning they respond to me in e-mail. I read the e-mail and start the vetting process. I’d delete the e-mail you received, just on the garbled text that it is. Greed is bad, I was offered rent above my terms, and learned the woman wanted run an escort service out of my home. The lower offer where you actually get paid is best, the scam where you are wiped out is bad. Leave the out of town shipping of major items to people who know how to play that game on e-bay. The suggestion of posting your payment terms and conditions is an excellent idea, and stick to your terms, don’t let someone persuade you to go where you don’t want to go.

Definitely a scam. Have seen it many times in responses to Kijiji and Craigslist ads.

Run away as fast as you can..

I have bought and sold many things on CL and have found that I need to just use the phone and disregard all emails. They are 90% scams and a waste of time. If they really want it they will call. Despite this I still love CL. And got my current 200 OV off of CL.

I've received a form of that exact email 3 times in the last month. One was an oil rig worker buying for his dad, another working in South America buying for his son and another like the first one. DON'T DO IT.

They pay by PayPal. Then once they have your stuff, they complain to PayPal saying the product isn't exactly what you said it was. Money gets frozen and you're out how ever much you sold it for.

That oil worker is buying a lot of stuff for his dad. He wanted to buy my boat. I asked him to call. he said he couldn't because a storm knocked out communication on the platform. I said you're communicating with me now. Last I heard from them.

Definately scam... and a lot of them out there. I never respond to emails on craigslist unless they are specific and give me a phone # to call them.

Scam - I've seen it plenty of times..... Now I usually just play along. I respond with... its available but their is lots of interest from others too. Then I say oh I must raise the price now by 10,000 because someone else is interested. They usually say OK. Then I play along some more and don't forget a couple "God bless you's" in there as well to reciprocate theirs. And then after a couple days of jerking them along I usually end with a long email about how they will love the item and then finish it with a big........Oh yeah, one more thing.......GO F**K YOURSELF.......

Like your style! Have done something similar in the past with scam responses I've had but I generally conclude by asking them: If they like sex and travel?
