I have seen some SeaRays with canvas over the Windshield. How effective is this in reducing the temps in the helm when docked? Anyone add this to a 38? Costs?

I tinted (limo) my salon windows and then covered them with black 90% mesh. The difference for central florida heat is incredible. It can be 94 degrees outside and 73 degrees inside on average. Before I added this, I could barely get below 80 degrees. Of course we don't keep it that cold, but it's nice knowing we can!

I looked at Great Lakes for this canvas but they don't have the 2008 38DA listed. Anyone know where I can get this and est cost? Any recommended local canvas shops in the Tampa Bay area?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

This is usually a custom addition so I dont think you would find it from the OEM supplier. Male screw in snaps will have to be added to the base of the windshield at the deck and some type of arrangement to connect the cover at the top to the existing canvas will also have to be done. I have a cover for my windshield and while I never gave it much consideration for lowering the temp in the cockpit which is not a big deal in my climate, I can tell you that the cover will extend the service life of the isinglass on the top and will help limit sun fade on the cockpit interior. My isinglass is now over 6 years old and still looks brand new.

Got a quote for a Sunbrella windshield canvas for around $1000, does this seem resonable?
