covering the boat for trailering - do you need a full cover?

Nope. Bow and cockpit covers work just fine. I've never towed with anything else or with nothing. It's what they're made for.

I know a few people that have spent big money getting a nice full cover made for towing, but it's not necessary.

Big ditto to what Jim said. We've towed MS Judy 1000s of miles without any problems. Just make sure you check the snaps each time you stop.

Just cruious did you do it with bimini up or down (not open). I did a 2 hour trip with it up and just the snap covers and didn't have any problem other then the stinkin love bugs.

I run with it up all the time. IMHO on our 240SD with the extra bar at the back seems to work fine. Again I also check the little pin on the bimini.

I found that at times a bimini bracket may become loose or even ripped screwses on a long trips with good speed. So, to prevent that I use two straps, which I tie from bimini to the bow rails. This tales off pressure from the brackets and works like a charm. However, on really long trips I think it's not worth the risk to have them up. It take extra 2-5 min for biminies to be off and almost the same time to putting them back on.

Alex.
