Could This Be The Mobile Phone Boaters Are Looking For?

I hope Apple will do.

I have the Galaxy S4 Active which is also "water resistant" - but I can't get to grips with android. I'll try again when latest Kit-Kat OS version gets to my S4 - but I'm not lining up to buy an S5 (yet) - I find the UI does not really fit the big phone screens - so not so easy to operate with one hand.

But I do like my Apply 5S - the fingerprint reader makes the phone so nice to use. I have considered sending it to Liquipel for water proofing (http://www.liquipel.com/)

And I'm not a "political" hardware snob - I use ThinkPads and Macbook pros every day. But now that I have started dabbling in some software for Phones - I can see why Android sometimes is not easy to make work for single handed use.

On iPhone you design UI to a few phones where you know where the buttons will be. On Android the UI is designed (usually) with relative positioning - so you say button 1 in top corner - button 2 is 20 "virtual pixels" down from button 1. That is done so Apps will work on as many screen sizes as possible - but also makes it very hard to make elegant user interfaces that work across many brands of android phones. So while a software UI might work great on a 4.7" screen - when you put it on a 6" screen everything is automatically re-placed and might be out of reach for 1 handed operation. So Android software needs a lot of testing on different phone sizes to get the App's work perfectly for single handed operation. Where iPhone - you have very few (so far) sizes to test on.

But right now I'm doing a Google Glass App - which is Android :) but a very different style of UI as you only have "kind of a temple mounted joystick/touch pad" to move between the screens with.

Ohh well - all that tech :)

I'll stick with my Casio Commando
you saw it in action in the pool in Knoxville didn't ya Mike ??

I've had a life proof case for my iPhone and never had an issue with water intrusion - and it's been wet (in the bottom of the dinghy or in the shower, sink etc)! Great product. Better prices if you shop on ebay.

I also have the Lifeproof but would love to have that security without a case. I also have an issue where after a month or so when I talk the sound gets garbled on the other end but it goes away after it is cleaned and reinstalled..
