I am in a 14X36 with cable and water that runs $250 per month. Electric is metered and billed every other other month (runs 10-15 for 2 months). We also have bathrooms and showers.

approx $110/ft summer, additional $40/ft winter. my new slip is 17.5' wide and could fit a 45 footer. pool, table/BBQ/dink/park your car right behind your boat, free H2O, got my own direct tv dish  . metered electric with jersey central power and light. in the dog days, could run $40/month. otherwise usually around $15/month. our 6th season here. if you check out the pic, you'll see why you need to get good at docking REAL QUICK!

zoom in on the pic, second spit of land from the bottom of the pic, just left of the dogleg, black explorer. THAT'S ME IN MY OLD SLIP! new one is 10 to the left.

Turtletone,

I think that it costs more in the winter, at least for transient slips. Lots of people have the same idea of bring their boat here in the winter, and it is simply a function of supply and demand.

Insurance is less, though, if you move your boat out of florida during hurricane season.

Great :smt021

why does everyone copy me????

Ok, I have a question for you Floridians, do the winter months cost a lot less than the summer months? I was thinking of hauling my boat down for a couple of winter months. But after reading what it costs, i'm having second thoughts.

same price all year round. my price is for a 60' foot x 20' slip. my last slip was 42x15, and was about 700/mo.

4,400 for a 30'x11' Electric and water included. No pool. Bonus... At low tide your boat gets to lay in the muck.
Everyday :smt017 ?
Sorry, No it's from 4/1 till 10/30. I'm trying to get moved into deeper water. It actually doesn't sit in the muck it just kicks up alot at low tide. I have to leave the drives up which I don't like doing.

hey bridog
not sure where you are in brick, but come on over to green cove marina. no muck, a pool and probably a cool $1K cheaper!

Ron, Thanks for the invite. We looked at it last year. It does look very nice. We will go check it out after this season. Thanks again, Brian

Florida

If you are looking at Florida, consider a home on the water. Except for the insurance, there have been dramatic price reductions in homes on the water. About a year ago they announced that the county was starting to enforce the 3 month minimum rental rule and immediately a bunch of homes in the area went on the market (GulfHarbor/SeaForest New Port Richey, FL).

That and the insurance rates have people selling and it is a real buyers market. You can make some outrageous offers. (No, I am not in Real Estate  ) So we are lucky, our boat is in the backyard. We are pretty likely to make up the cost in insurance with the increase in value over time. So let's say we had the same house, but not on the water, I guess we pay arounf $3,000 more/year to be on the water but it's not just having the boat right there, it's 1.5 miles to a small beach, it's a 10 minute kayac paddle to the Gulf of Mexico, it takes 20 minutes to idle out to the gulf. So there are other benefits, too.

We pay $16,400 per year plus electric and water. But that includes the dock, our Three bedroom four bath house, the pool, property taxes, insurance and a view of our boat and the canal from our family room. Life is good

700 per year plus 30 per foot. Includes use of private club, bar, bathroom with showers, private beach, electric, discount on gas. This is a private yaht club and there are many partys all summer.

I pay $13.50 x foot with an annual contract(no contract goes up to $15), minimum for a 35 foot slip (I have a 280 DA)as they do not have a smaller slip and a minimum $50 charge for electricity. Dockage here in South Florida is a big problem so we get rammed anywhere we go.

SOFLA Slip Fees

In Ft. Lauderdale, I'm at my YC and I pay $6.00 a foot per month plus $100.00 mo. for electric. No Picknic but great Clubhouse and pool tennis courts etc.. Typical YC social life.

In the public marinas like Bahia Mar, Hall of Fame and others rates run $2.25 per foot per day! And that is year round.

The City of Ft. Lauderdale has some marina space but I do not know the rates.

We pay $1600/yr for our 30' slip (pay for 11 mos, get one free). The marina is gated and locked with key card access for marina tenants, and offers garbage/recycling and the use of their carts.

The slip is covered and comes with water and electricity (add'l ~$40/yr). Dock boxes are available for rental, too.

The only shore amenities are bathrooms, and showers which are too old, scary and decrepit to consider using except in a dire emergency. There are two restaurants--one above the marina and one on the water (floating restaurant)--which are privately owned and open to the general public.

There is a decent park (no pool or playground); however, the port is in the planning stages of completely changing the park and marina, so who knows what we'll pay if/when construction is complete. They're looking into putting in condos, shops and a hotel/convention center, and "upgrading" the marina by uncovering all the slips. Of course, none of the marina tenants want the slips uncovered, but the port thinks the condo owners would prefer to look down on pretty boats instead of ugly roofs.
