How do you clean coroded parts..

My stern light is all corroded at the points of contact and at the bulb end... how do i clean this.. is there a fluid cleaner or something that i can clean it with so it can make better contact and the stern can actually work next time im out at night.. lol

you're back! haven't posted much lately!

I guess you have salt water corrosion. I don't know what to do to get rid of it, but I think putting bulb grease on the bulbs will help preven/delay the corrosion in the future.

found this
Di-electric grease

you can get this stuff at autozone, etc

The dielectric and silicone grease will keep it from corroding in the future but to clean the corroded parts you can try some electical parts cleaner (radio shack) and a small wire brush... For what the new sockets cost, I'd just replace it then grease it up real well so it doesn't happen again.

Sounds like you need some new duck bill valves....

Sounds more like he blew a hole in the pump out hose coming from the holding tank!

Hope all goes well crock, and a speedy recovery!

crOck,
Sounds like the corrosion you should be worried about doesn't have a light attached.
but...Seriously I hope all goes well.
Hang in there

Sorry to hear about the inner and outter corrosion. Sorry no help on the inner corrosion. Just get better soon.

The outter problem could be avoided if you try to keep the little cover over your light socket. :smt115 I have had my boat now for 3 years and do not have any corrosion in that socket. :smt001

i keep the cover over my socket.. but i store the stern light in the locker and i guess i didnt clean it out enough and the stern light itself has the corosion on it.. lol..

and about my insides.. i got pain all the time so im going to see the gas doc oct 5th and get the good old probe to check it out.. then mandatory operation.

If it was in a damp locker then corrosion sure can get to it. You might try a rubber over the end next time and a moisture absorb packet. :smt115
