core rot

I have a 1992 Sea Ray Sundancer and am now having a windlass installed. The mechanic discovered core rot around my anchor locker and repaired it. When you walk on my bow you can feel it give (oilcanning) is this normal ? My mechanic tells me it's not and it's core rot from my cabin hatch. My last Sea Ray did this and I didn't think much of it. Should I plan on another repair this winter?

It's not normal. It sounds like rot. It's not going to kill you immediately but will only get worse with time. Water has weight and weght costs in terms of fuel burn. If this is a throwaway boat, don't worry about it. If she's a keeper, get it fixed over the winter. It can be a DIY job.
