I am a newbie and 82 years old so be easy on me. A dumb question probably. I just traded for a 1976 sea ray 300 sport bridge. Had not run in 3 years How is it cooled? There are 2 tanks in front of engines that has hose going to the thermastat housing and to the exhaust manifolds. Di need to hook up a hose to engines to run them over a longer period? I have had only out drives and use the rabbit ears to run them. I got both engins running (only for a few seconds) by priming the carbs. It has electric fuel pumps and i am having trouble geting them to run from the tanks. It has a water pump in front of the port eng. that is going to the shower and sink. It does not run by tyhe switch. Do i need to haver water in both water tanks for this pump to run. It also has a water pump in front of the starb. eng. i can not get either pump running by the switches. I have not had boats other than a boat i traded for this 300 srort bridge since commercial fishing in bristol bay in Alaska. Go easy on me guys. Thankls for any help.

as for the cooling ...it needs fresh water in addition to the coolant in the exchanger system
there is a suction cup available to go over the freshwater pickup on the bottom of the hull ..make sure the seacock is open.
or you can close the seacock and take the top off of the strainer and run a hose into the strainer.
I would avoid running much rpm with either method.
I would replace the impellers before either way ...if they have been sitting that long they could come apart and send pieces through the rest of the system and cause other issues.
