My 350 Mag has one of those all in one (as I like to call it) fuel cooling and filtering devices that uses a drop-in type filter (as opposed to the screw on canister). The only problem is these things are over $50 at the dealer and the prices I find on the internet are not that much better. There are lower priced filters available that are made by Sierra but I would prefer to use the Mercury filter. Does anyone know where you can buy these filters without having to pay an arm and a leg for them?

Good Morning,

I just purchased a couple of the filters from *******.com for 36.95 ea.+ shipping. This is the best price I have found so far.

Yeah, I wasn't too happy when Merc redesigned that filter. $50 - even $40 is crazy. I'm sure there might be some fly-by-night operations that have them a few bucks cheaper. Unfortunately I don't know of a reputable source to buy them from.

I don't know the filtering specs on the Sierra part, but if you were able to research it and find the micron rating, I wouldn't advise against using it if it was comparable. Personally, I would consider using it if I had that set-up (assuming it's comparable).

I put *******.com in my browser but it didn't work for me, anyone else have an better luck?

If you mean B O A T F I X.com, that won't show up because they block BOE Marine on their site so Jim reciprocates by having his editor block their web site if it is entered on a CSR forum.

BTW, I looked on their site and couldn't find that filter. But then again I find their site difficult to use. What is the part number you used?

Dave

Their part no.# 35-866171A01.
It may may take a little time, but I have used them for 3 seasons.
Go to their web page and click on Mercury then OMP
Select product (Mercrusier)
Scroll down until you see your engine and serial # range
Scroll to fuel filter

Hope this works for all of you,I know it is a small savings
( $12-$13) but better in our pocket.

Bob.............is that a Mercury or Sierra filter? At $36.95 it is a lot cheaper than what a dealer charges.

Thanks,

The above part number is a Mercury Marine (OEM) part number. All you'll need to do is enter that number (exactly as it is) into google and you'll get a bunch of listings for it. Don't forget to add for shipping when comparing prices as some companies charge more or less for shipping than others.
