cool fuel 2 rant...

Well I've got a 502 with the cf2 and can say I have no bog and no 3/4 range issues. No air flow issues no nadda 65 mph boat and every thing through the throttle range is perfecto. That's my story..

There's like a million or so of these engines out there and not too many bitching about poor design.

Well being in a black box and heat goes where it’s cooler I chose to remove the cover and it works.
Fuel injected engines typically run at temps around 210. But that’s in cars that have much better ventilation.
My modes cost me around 40 bucks.
My fuel filter is much easier to get to and change and my engine now inhales the much cooler outside air as supposed to factory placement right next to exhaust risers. The cool fuel 2 is a great idea but the fuel flow is restricted and at 3/4 throttle that 454 shouldn’t have any kind bog or hesitation... it’s not bad and to people that don’t know, well no biggie. But with what I have done I now cruise at 30-34 mph at 3000-3200 rpm
Instead of 3500-3800 @ 23-28 mph.
Air flow being my biggest improvement
Bigger opening on incoming side and adding a second inline blower and having short exhaust vent hose from blower to exit on port side.

So, you think your boat now goes 6 mph faster at 600 rpm's less than before because of these "improvement's" that you have made?

Well it sure doesn’t run the same as it did before!!! And that is my results!!
I’d say it’s due to better cooler air being inhaled by the motor!!!
Not the hot air it was inhaling right next to the exhaust !!!
Say what ya want .... that is my results!!

glad your 502 runs great!!!
few people bitch about design because they either pay someone else to work on it or think that’s the way it is!!! Most think that’s just the way it is!!!
Mine runs way better now than it did when I bought it!!!

If the concern is vapor lock, plumbing the fuel pump return line back to the fuel tank is the fix.
You know I just paid attention. Does this mean I can off the low pressure secondary pumps ahead of the separator?

You sure got a impressive increase in performance. Reminds me of a friend the first time he took Viagra....he said 4hrs later the Sealy Posturepedic was worn out, his wife was locked in the bathroom sobbing, and he was thinking of going over to his neighbors house.:D

Well if you haven’t done tried it.... don’t beat on someone who has!!!
Dropping intake air temp and fuel temp
Can do great things for performance!!
My engine now inhales much cooler outside air and my return fuel line isn’t right next to the hot oil pan!!!
So now my engine isn’t breathing 140+
Degree air it’s breathing 90 ish degree air.
My portable water tank no longer puts out hot water on the cold side!!!

You still didn't gain 6 mph at 600 less rpms!

Dunno....
I don’t have that set up. Get cooler air in your intake and keep your fuel lines away from major heat source like the oil pan. Make sure your engine compartment is able to evacuate the hot air adequately.
