Thanks for the pics. They sure help us northerners pass the time as we patiently wait for the weather to break up here. It may be "cool" down there but it's downright nasty up here & snowing AGAIN!!!:smt013. Anyway....Looks like a good time was had by all, thanks again for sharing. Todd:smt001
PS That is a georgeous boat!!!

Only 31 days until spring. Then maybe we can share our pics!

Thanks and enjoy!

The 420 is my buddy, Jay's boat. It's an '05 and was the one from the photo I submitted for the calendar from the year before last. He just had the bottom paint done right after me, and also had the hull buffed and polished - the hard way - he paid for it.

John, thanks for sharing. It gives us hope that one day our water will allow a boat to be driven on it versus a pickup.

No he was just rubbing it in. Putting a little salt in the wounds since we cannot start boating for another 2 months or more.....but those pictures were priceless and one can only dream of our boating season to start as I dig out from another 10 inches of snow today.

Thanks John, beautifull 420DA your friend has there. I love the extended platform with jetski. Do you know if there's a noticeble performance difference having the jetski on vs. without it?

Of course 700 a 800 lbs especially on your platform has some impact..You can see on the photos that his striping is in the water. But diesel engines have a lot of torque, so it's a couple of gallons more per hour and a few knots less I think.Peter

Great pics. Thanks for letting us up north enjoy a little virtual Florida weekend.

Love the 420 setup.

Thanks John, Great pictures. Got about 5 inches of snow outside right now. Going to see my old gal next week. Cant wait. Hopefully no snow in the Keys! JC

now that we've been boating for a couple of years" I REALLY HATE THE NORTHEAST" from nov-april after seeing Johns pics im damn jealous..

Perhaps - doesn't seem slow. Cruises in the mid 20 knots or better. However, he is extremely cautious is choppy or rough water. He slows way down. We fought East Winds in Choptawhatchee Bay last winter. We pressed on in our 340 at a comfy 22 knots. He throttled way back where we would have been schlogging. We waited for him in the ICW.

When he had the mod done (really cool), he was warned about cruising in rough water with weight back there. The fear is ripping the whole thing off in a wave.

John,

Pictures are great! Hopefully we can do it again this weekend! I'll show Ty his picture in the am and let you know what he says!!

John,

Tell the couple with the "Bama gear on I said Roll Tide (UA Class of '74).

What's the deal with you anyway...seems like you all ways have 2~3 drop dead gorgeous women hanging around. You must be one of these "babe magnets"...or maybe it's the boat.

Seriously..it's not any warmer down here either.:smt009

I'll tell 'em. They gave me one of the best compliments I've ever had. This past weekend, they said that the 340 would be the perfect boat for them, and that when the day comes, they want ours because it is so very well cared for. He is the service manager at one of our local Sea Ray dealers. I was humbled.

Boats, flying, partying... no, 25 years of marriage. My advice is find a hot, insecure woman, and spoil her. Then, you can sit back and enjoy the eye candy for the next few decades (JK).

Great! (The flying kid is Jason and Kim's from Aarrhh & Aarrhh).

Thank you for clarification and confirmation John. This is what I had anticipated as a drawback for such mod. I’m sure that there was special reinforcement plates installed, but I would think that it’s just too much weight pushing on that platform. I wander how big of a difference between larger boats like Gary’s 480DA or alike have the transom constructed (I just assume the back wall is much thicker) to handle PWCs and larger dinghies with center console.

Peter,
This is pretty much what I expected, but I wanted to hear more details on this particular model.
