Converting Analog TV to Digital

I thought all the 2008-2009 cruisers used the LG TV which was HD and had a digital tuner. I know that the V-Berth smaller unit only had analog tune. Are you sure your salon set is not digital?

John,

Our 2008 38DA (Nov 2007 build date) came with 3 Sharp DTVs and a cockpit Sharp HDTV-DVD combo. All receive digital broadcast over the air with the standard Glomex antenna and the HDTV-DVD combo can receive multiple HD channels.

Mike, on a related question. Can you tell from the HIN when the build date was for the boat?

Mike, never mind. Just located the code breaker.

I was thinking the SAME EXACT THING !!!

Unless I'm losing my mind, I get no TV signals at all now. This tells me I'm not getting any kind of digital signal. Next time I'm at the boat I'm going to look closer at the unit and look at the make and model. We rarely use the TV, so I really don't pay attention to the unit that much.

Chris, I think I figured this out. If your set is a 15" then it is probably analog. The larger units (e.g. 26") are digital in 2008.

All--
We have a 2008 340 DA and it did NOT have digital TVs installed. However, you're also 100% correct in that a 2008 boat should have new digital TVs in it. I negotiated with dealer to have get reinbursement for installing new digital TVs. We then decided to upgrade to HD TVs in both bulkhead (32" Insignia) and 22" Insignia in the cockpit.

Bottom Line: It depends how/when you bought your boat. If bought new from a dealer (like I did) then I'd suggest you MIGHT be able to negotiate for some type of reinbursement for digital TVs. However, you likely didn't negotiate "in the deal", so unsure if they'll reciprocate now. If bought via brokerage or from somebody, you're likely stuck with analog TVs, which is what early production 2008 340 Sundancers came with.

However, not all bad news--you now get a chance to install a new, bigger and HD 32" TV!!!!

I put a converter on my 400DA and it works fine we now get about 25 chanels
I hooked right into the feed from the ant. before the the feed to the TV only thing is both receive the same stations. Good Luck.

The reason you may not get any signals now is because most TV stations went digital and if you have an analog set it will not receive the digital broadcast. If so, you can either replace the TV with a digital ready TV or get the converter mentioned.

John,

We have two 15" , one 20" and HD 19" (upgraded to HD 32"), all are Sharp and receive Digital TV.
