I've searched for conversations regarding converting the head on a 240SD into a storage room with shelving and haven't found anything.
Has anyone ever done this? If so, do you have any advice?

One of the great features on the Sundeck is the enclosed head. I wouldn't convert it to storage especially for resale... not sure if you were thinking of making permanent changes. I have had a few Sundecks over the years and with four kids and the wife and all their gear, Wake boards, knee boards and floaties.. I have never wanted for more storage. Big stuff we used once in a while like rafts and Skies we kept in a dock box and were taken out when used that day

Maybe take a look at what you have to see if you can purge some stuff... We used the engine room to one side for storage and bins under the helm helped.

If your head is still in working order I would not do anything to permanent.

If anything use stackable plastic totes. So you can pull them out when the head is needed or to take to the house for long term storage.

Thanks for all the input. I dont know if the toilet works or not. Got the boat 2 months ago and haven't used it, nor did previous owner.
As is, we throw towels, shoes, snacks...etc. inside there.
We do have plastic bins under the helm with tools, extra ropes and stuff that I don't use often. Hopefully I will never need tools but Boy Scouting taught me to be prepared.
I like the stackable bins idea. Thanks little ducky.

I use bins like this. Fortunately I have an aft sleeping cubbie I can use to store a few of these.

I have a 1977 240 Sundancer that has the aft sleeping area and because of the lack of storage in the boat I have put stuff there. So far I have yet to have her out on a cruise(mechanical issues have kept her at the curb since I bought it to fix up) but getting closer. But wouldn't convert the head to storage my wife would not be happy.

George explained it best.... Sounds like you have more stuff then most... :)

Actually not all that much stuff I know the importance of keeping the weight down on a boat no matter what its size is.

Loyd... my comment or George’s skit was meant for OP...
I often put stuff in the aft when it’s not being used ...it’s like the best place to put stuff...

I agree I have two fishing poles and tackle boxes there plus it is where I have a small box of electrical stuff tucked under the plywood and custion on the port side fits just right.

I have had 4 240 SD's, and never used the bathroom on any of them.. That is our clutter room to fling life jackets and wet suits in to.

That’s the great thing about the 240, very versatile design that suits however you choose to use it.
