I learned that you cant turn a 340 into from beam to bow into the wind in 30 - gusting to 40mph winds without some help from the rudders -- at least mine.

Went out Sunday, we wanted to spend the night on the boat - but had to "pump the pooper" first. Wind was ugly, but looked at it as a learning experience.

Yes, did some learning about the boat. Had to back out to the basin to turn finally, then make a run into the wind to a finger pier. Worked out ok. Learned alot about how much difference the winter canvas ( with the side curtains up, everything enclosed except the back ) behaves in a stiff wind.

All in all - very productive afternoon. No hard bumps, after the turn around in the basin, slid right up and settled over.

Guess the best news is - boating in February....

Nice! It's a great idea to get some practice in less than stellar weather so when you are out in it you know how the boat reacts. I'll be heading out on Friday for a few days but it's freaking cold today! Last Friday and Saturday was 70 and it was 45 with rain today. There was even snow on the local mountain (4,000') during the day.
