Considering 270 SLX - can I water ski behind this boat or is it too big?

I am in the market for a new boat and considering a 270 SLX. I love the size and layout of this boat for hanging out and entertaining. I have 3 young kids and with our current smaller 23 foot boat we do a lot of tubing and skiing (me and wife included). Is it realistic that I can slalom ski behind a 270 SLX? I am not trying to set any competitive records, just want to pop up on a single ski and cross the wake for 5 or 10 mins.

I am looking at two gently used 270 SLX boats, one powered with a Merc 496 at 375HP and one with a Merc 496 HO at 425HP.

If this boat throws a tsunami sized wake, then the engine size propobably doesn't matter. I am not looking to launch my kids or myself into outer space of the wake.

Thanks in advance for any insight that any other 270 SLX owners can provide!

We used to ski behind our 26 foot SR Express cruiser all the time. I've even seen people ski behind a 39 foot SR.

I ski (slalom) behind my 260DA. Wake size is roughly equal to the 270SLX, although the 270SLX would be a bit smaller, but not by much - close enough as makes no difference. You can definitely do it, but you have to be on edge and ready to pull your knees up or it will knock you around. To be honest, most of the time (when I'm on one ski) I just stay one side of the wake. It's a trade off that you learn to deal with for having a bigger boat.
