Consider turning off the Emergency SOS feature on your iPhones

A PSA for you guys FYI for emergency calls. My understanding is that any cell phone without a SIM card can be used to call 911 (and most other emergency numbers ) in an emergency. Of course your number does not get seen by the 911 operator and they cannot call you back if you get disconnected. But whatever quick key or swipe to dial emergency will work even if there is no SIM in it

I leave an old iPhone 4 plugged in my glovebox in my car that has my Music library in it, but that can also be used for an emergency 911 call if needed. The phone is basically worthless, but it has storage and emergency use. And its always charged up since its connected to the car via USB.

Somehow my iPhone 11 butt dials CSR and posts something stupid.
When I figure out how to turn that feature off I will work on this next.

I rebooted after the change. Now the dual press brings up the screen where you can make the emergency call, but only by swiping. Holding the buttons will not start the call countdown.

nope. The next ones here that aren't shown were red with black stripe, then 1, then 2, then 3 stripes at the end of the belt, then black belt. IIRC it was black with white stripe, then solid black. Took 5 years to get there. There are only like 5 colors but each belt has like 3 levels

I accidentally called 911 on Monday!

CarPlay didn't connect on my way to work, so I rebooted CarPlay. It still didn't connect, so I went to reboot the phone - while driving, without my reading glasses. I activated emergency instead.

Fortunately, I caught it before they answered.

I’ve received a few random visits over the years, almost exclusively out at remote homes or cell tower sites while servicing generators and I can’t hear the phone.

I run a sonim 8800 and there is no disabling the emergency button as it is a rugged phone designed for emergency workers
