Connect garmin 840 to Standard Horizons gx1600

I have been trying to connect my Garmin 840 xs to my standard horizon GX 1600.

Both are new and just installed. They work great apart, but I cannot get them to talk to each other.

I have the blue wires on both connected and the grey wire on the hs to the brown on the garmin.

The GZ1600 does not show any gps icon or signal.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated
