Congrats Sea Ray ... 370 Named 2012 Boat of the Year

Nice for brunswick,i will look at one tomorrow i hope at detroit show buti dont think i will like it.Looks like the cabin is small for a 370.

It's all a numbers game as to whether they call it a 370 or 340. I'm not sure about the outboards but I certainly would not rule them out. Whether or not I would buy it would depend a lot on the economy of the outboards vs the I/O's or inboards. Noise certainly was not a factor on that boat.

I took a ride on it in September at the CSR Homecoming. While its not a boat for everyone, it certainly is different.

The aft cabin is very roomy and bright. Even though the boat looks "skinny", it has a lot of room downstairs. Of course, everything is current and new. What struck me was how bright it is below compared to my boat and others like it.

But what is most impressive is the fact it is powered by 300 Verados. There is absolutely no vibration and it is extremely quiet. Sure there's room for improvement, but it is a completely new model and design. It's solid...like all Sea Rays.

My 2 cents.

Mark

Scott, I thought I saw something about the reporter being hot, where did that go? She's okay to look at what what a maroon!

We went onboard one last Sept. at Tampa Boat Show. Not really our taste......prefer the older style 48', when we win the Lotto:)

I went in one at the NY Boat Show. About the only thing I liked about it was the spacious aft, or master, berth. Other than that I really didn't care for it. Kind of a stretch calling it a 370, at least 10% of that is the covered area for the outboards.

The really cool thing about the Venture is that the Verado engines can be raised completely out of the water. Once people experience how quiet it runs and how well it performs, salt, brackish and shallow water owners will be all over it.

I went on board it at the NYC boat show with other CSR members and frankly, its a 340 with a large platform, my opinion is a 37' boat that still uses curtains to seperate the staterooms is still a 340. Sorry, I've heard "rumors" that if they didnt use the Merc Verados it would work, maybe Yammis? When we stepped onto the platform it flexed! It's ai340 with a 36" platform in our opinion . Good concept? Maybe good delivery? Not really!! Sorry Sea Ray. We love ya but boat of the year? I don't think so,,,,

$550K for that? no thanks.

I was on this 370 Venture at the Ft Lauderdale show. It's not selling for $550. The boat show price MarineMax had was around $379k.

Id rather have a 370DA after being on the Venture.

Just came back from the NE Boat Show these are my exact thoughts. Another deal breaker for me is the cockpit galley. In my marina you can not cook on your boat topsides even on an electric grill. The price was $379k well equipped. Boat's not for me but has the Pusuit model beat hands down.

Love going to the boat show, it's makes me more in love with my 14 ft wide 390 EC. The new boats to me just don't have "personality".

Paradigm is broken with this Venture! This boat is marketed for people who like new NEW boats and technology. Price aside this boat handled like a 27 footer. She shot out of the hole and turns on a dime. Far Far Better than any 320 / 340 / 370 out there. A 340 does not come close to competing with this level of performance. This is an out of the box performer in a modified cruiser body. Very solid ride and like others have said, No Vibration~! Never been on any vessel of this size so absolutely quiet. Sea Ray you have yourself a hit! Keep up the good work and don’t stop with your new innovations. If you doubt this performance make it a point to run one this summer.

Outboard motor technology has come so far in the last 10 years. Have you seen the 557 horsepower monster? That is amazing.

I applaud Sea Ray for taking a leap to capitalize on the new outboards. I hope they bring more outboard powered cruisers to market! And more runabouts like the Sundeck and other 22-30 ft sport boats.

From the data and reviews I've seen it seems the power band is all top and bottom without much middle. I believe cruise is near the top of the rpm band. Having the motors out of the water in a salt environment is everything to prevent corrosion and the quiet ride at a fast cruise is nice too. I'm sure some people will love it. I sure would like to test one. I found this data from Boating magazine.

i have taken test drive and I really like the boat. We boat on Lake Lanier and it would be almost perfect for that.

Well they didnt have one at the detroit show yesterday, but they sure had a pretty 470 dancer. The wife loved that one.I still felt it should have had a bit more roomy feeling to it.
