Just Curious....and maybe a good oppurtunity for a survey.....but do most members here use laptops, desktops or other means to access the forum....

Personally, I have a wireless network and three laptops thoughout the house....gives me the chance to just pop on as roam through out the house.....

I have my office in my house and usually access off of desktop, but also have a wireless throughout and have 2 laptops for the evenings and weekends.
Wi-Fi at marina and always have a laptop with me.
Some people even think I work on the weekends :smt043
Got to love Wi-Fi and laptop for remote work access!

Desk Top at office with net work hard wired and wifi for lap top which I take home. Marina has wifi but costs....got to figure a way to get it for free.... :smt017

Wireless both at work and at home. Use laptops at home and desktop or a laptop at work. Since my slip is only 200 feet from my house, that too is wireless (use a router down there).

I only have one computer.......a desktop hooked into the fiber optic network that services our neighborhood.

I work at home and have 2 desktops and a laptop for work. Wireless access throughout the house and basement. I always carry my laptop when boating as i have a SPrint Wireless Internet card. And yes i've worked from the boat many times! I use the laptop mostly for DVDs for the kids wen they want to get out of the sun for a while. I also use the wireless to run Dopplar Radar loops when i go into the LI Sound. Remote access from anywhere is really a nice thing :)

Desktop at work on DSL, desktop at home on dialup.

DSL Desktop at work...DSL desktop at home and currently trying to get wireless connected to laptop.. ( i've really gotta stop using some neighbors connection.. :smt017 )

DeskTop at home in office, Laptop w/wireless used at home and then in summer months the laptop goes to the boat where we have wi-fi at the marina.

We have a desktop at the home in our office, with satellite dsl and I have Dsl desktop at my office/Work. I'm getting a laptop soon, cause I can't stand how slow the home computer is, when the teens get on it and foul it all up with Internet Downloads that they never admit too... Imagine that...?

Isn't it amazing how many folks don't secure their networks :smt101 ......

i have a laptop at work, that i bring home at night. usually, though, i use our family desktop at night. i have a dell axim i use for travel or on the boat, unless i have something really heavy duty to do that i need the laptop for.

Home computer is a desktop w/a router. My work computer is a laptop I take home at night and usually log on with it, but I also use the desktop.

I use a desk top at home on dls. Problem is that I'm never there. I'm in the Flordia Keys on the boat for the winter. Here I have a laptop with a Hawking HWU8DD High Gain USB Wireless Adapter. I mention this device because it's the strongest wireless adapter I've found.

At work I'm connected via a gigabit LAN to our core router's dual OC-12's and OC-3. Its hard to work from anywhere else because once you're used to this speed, you hate all other connections.

I also have colocated servers in our datacenter for hosting my personal and business web sites. This is connected to the same gigabit LAN mentioned above.

At home I have a cable connection, advertised as 10mb by 512k. I don't see downloads any faster than 5mb. I have both a LAN for one desktop PC and a wireless network for 1 other desktop PC, 1 laptop, an Xbox, and an Xbox 360. We love encoded videos and music, so all of our media is stored on our PC and shared out to the Xbox's for streaming.

Personal laptop + work laptop utilizing a wireless router at home. We also purchased a laptop last year for the boat, which we use to watch television shows we've recorded via TiVo and to occasionally connect to the internet (when wireless access is available at marinas we're visiting). Unfortunately, the marina where we keep our boat does not currently offer internet access :smt089 . If you're trying to decide between a desktop and laptop computer, buy the laptop + port replicator (you won't be sorry).
