Coming in hot

That's gotta hurt your ego.

just imagine how bad it would have been if they'd had a Honda generator running on their swim grid!

Yeah, the people who shot the video are standing on their boat docked across from where the ship came in. I don't they realized what was about to happen, because at one point you hear the woman ask "why are all those people running". Then after it hits you hear them talking about one of their lines breaking.

That reminds me of a few of the pontoon boat owners dock in my marina. They come up the fingers to their slips fast, cut the wheel when they GUESS it's the right time, and then jam the motor into reverse just in time to avoid hard contact with the dock. The only problem is that too often, they either underestimate how long it will take for them to stop their momentum, or their reaction time is too slow. In any event. it's never pretty, but it does make for good entertainment sometimes.

I'm not so sure that ship was coming in too hot. The problem appeared to be caused by the wind blowing him into the dock. He had his thrusters working as hard as he could to slow his approach to the dock, but when he hit it he was moving sideways with very little forward movement.

We spent 3 days in Ketchikan because of wind. The marina we stayed at is the same area that the ship hit. The flags were strait out.
There is some current and with a big wind it is very hard to dock. The large boats we saw dock in the area stopped off the dock them used their thrusters to push them selves in.
