I have a Uline combo icemaker refrigerator. It makes an incredible amount of ice but will not keep the beverages cold. I recently put a thermometer in the lowest point of the refrigerator and after being gone for three days it was 50° in the beverage section. The ice was still frozen.
I have removed the unit and cleaned the cooling fins And even tried putting a small fan to force more air under the unit to no avail. There are no fans or air distribution holes I am aware of inside, it is strictly a conductive unit. I also replaced the door seal, have adjusted the door to seal tightly.
I turned off the icemaker and removed the ice bucket and The temperature was 33° the next morning. The beer was as we say “ice cold“.
What may not be evident from the photo is that the freezer section has a clear plastic flip down door at the top where you see the icemaker, and the ice bucket has a flange that seals off the freezer compartment from the refrigerator side. With the door closed the ice bucket is so tight that even an eighth of an inch spacer will not allow the door to close tightly.
So I thought maybe the refrigerator side just needs a little bit more air from the freezer side so I drilled six half-inch holes in the bottom area of the ice bucket flange but that was not enough, The refrigerator temperature was within the range before I drilled the holes.
The current status of the unit is I have it making ice in the compartment without the ice bucket and I have both ice and cold beverages. The negative is that every time I open the door a dozen pieces of ice fall out on the floor. LOL
Am I missing anything? Any suggestions?
