Collinite heavy Duty Fleet Wax

YES.... I used the #870 Heavy Duty Fleetwax Cleaner Wax by hand on our boat and it totally cleaned off the scum line and any other staining on the hull. It also leaves a wax finish on it.

A relative of mine is a distributor for Collinite and he professed how well it would work. It really does. I've also used their wax and really like how easy it goes on and off.

Good stuff !!!

I used Collinite products all the time!!! Love them.
The only thing I dislike about them is the difficulty removing them during the polish/waxing process.
That being said the products are durable and last for quite sometime

I won't use anything else. Same with 6-7 other boats in our boating family. My preference is 885 Fleetwax paste applied by hand, removed with buffer, but only applied after 920 Cleaner has been used to get the surface clean and prep'd. We wax in April and water still beads in October. There's more work involved but the results are worth it.

I used Collonite above my rubrail this past spring and I was very impressed with the shine and durability. The product is not easy to get off so it's important to work on small areas. If you let a large area of wax set up in the hot sun, it is very difficult to get the haze off.

Yes - totally agree! That is the one drawback of the paste. But, you get better results in the long run. I've found that re-applying and taking it off before it totally hazes works decent. Usually I'll just do a small section (a few square feet) at a time and it goes pretty quickly.

Overall, one of the best waxes on the market.

I like Meguiar's Flagship. In my opinion it is superior to Collinite.

I've used Flagship for years. It's a good product and I still use it on the hull. Very easy to put on and take off in any kind of relative humidity. We tried Collinite on a whim last April and I was really impressed with the results. The topsides were still beading water when I put the boat away in October. I plan on using it again as the shine is better on the decks than with what I got with Flagship.

I have been waxing on my boat with 2 other people for 2 days with this collinite.....it by far is the best wax on the market for a boat......

That is the only reason I have not tried it yet. Everyone says how difficult it is to get off.

You are lucky, when I wax I am on my own. Everyone seems to be tied up when they hear I am having my boat pulled for waxing. The time you are talking would be 4 days of waxing for me. With Flagship, I can get 2 coats under the rail in a comfortable day and still have time for a beer.

I know what you are talking about ...My help is paid employes not my summer time family... it seems not to be a hard wax to work with maybe the reson is it is cool here this week and I have been taking it off with a buffer.

I've heard lots of people complain about 885, but none of them were applying it correctly!

Two simple rules:

- Don't cheat - if you apply it over even slight oxidation, it will go on too thick and trap dirt like crazy.

- Don't let it dry or haze AT ALL before removing excess product. Apply and immediately remove. Work in small areas at a time on a cool surface in the shade.

I tried the #885 this weekend in heated storage. Goes on great with my Makita rotary using a Meguirs foam application pad. Smear some paste on the foam pad, do a 3 or 4 foot section at a time and buff off before it dries or hazes at all. I had to hang on for dear life on the hartop when applying the second coat! Great shine! I like it!
