People here still don't wear their lifejackets when they are out fishing in Nov, Dec, Jan... The water temp is 40 degrees and guys are on boats 3 miles from shore thinking all is hunky dory... Usually read about a few in the paper every weekend in the winter months.

I fell through the ice at a local pond when I was around 13, after going under a few times I was able to pull my self up and slide across the ice on my stomach. by the time I got home, I had to walk 1-2 miles, all my cloths were frozen stiff, all the zippers were frozen so my mother used a hair dryer to thaw them out. I think if that happened today I'd probably have a heart attack.:wow:
