I removed my 4 cockpit cushions last fall, so I could take them to an upholsterer. This is someone we've used for years for auto interiors, and he does great work but I've never used him for a boat job before.

The double helm seats are in decent shape so I left them alone for now.

When I brought the seats over in January, the upholsterer said it was a great time because things were slow. I saw another set of similar Sea Ray seats in the shop waiting to be done.

My only concern was the Sea Ray logo stitched onto the back cushion, since I wanted to preserve that. He said he uses an embroiderer to do the logo, so no worries there.

Over the past few months I sent a few emails and called for updates but I didn't get any response. After stopping in the other day, he had all sorts of excuses but the bottom line is, he hasn't even order the vinyl yet and couldn't commit to end of this month.

So to reel it in: should I give him more time to do the job, apply some pressure and hope I can get them soon after the season starts (slip begins May 1)? Or just cut my losses and put the cushions back in for another season? Three of the cushions are okay, but the back one is an eye sore (see below). Worst case I could cover it up somehow. I think I'd rather have my guests sitting on old cushions compared to nothing

This one is toast:

Nothing a little duct tape can't fix. :) I'd be honest with him, if he'll be honest with you. If he could get them done by such and such date, that would be great -- otherwise you'll take them back to use for the season and bring them back in the fall (maybe).
