Hi all,

I just took delivery of my first boat, a '03 260da. I was doing some pre-winter storage cleaning today, and I noticed that the cockpit enclosure doesn't fit tightly to the arch. (on either side)

(see attached photo)

Even if it did fit tightly to the inside of the arch, water would still come into the cabin at that spot, due to the angle of the canvas there.

How can I fix this? how do other cabin enclosure canvases prevent water from coming in at the arch?

It does look like they forgot to install the snaps on the arch (and maybe the cover too).

You see how the cover is "dimpled" by the rubber gasket? That's normally where they are installed on the cover.

You can install a track and have your canvas modified to work with it and slide into the track. Let me see if I can find a picture of what I am talking about.

Found it.

That part gets sewn to your canvas and then a track would get screwed to your arch. You would have to slide the pieces in first, put your pole up and then snap the snaps on your cover. It would keep it much less prone to getting wet inside!

Cabin enclosure??? In the picture I think I'm seeing where your cockpit/mooring cover doesn't snap firmly to the radar arch? My 280 is a bit loose there as well. I used a Pool noodle this season and it worked very well

My cockpit cover has three snaps on the inside of the arch. Water can get in but it is typically a very small amount.

This is how the various canvas and polycarbonate "windows" are done on our boat. After dealing with all the snaps on our 260DA this is much better IMO, only half the snaps are required because one end is secured with the track. You slide the spline into the groove, slide around to get in place and snap in the snaps on the lower section. Worth the extra $ on areas you usually remove and reinstall when out on the water.
