We have a 2004 Sundancer 280 and looking to replace
cockpit carpet.
Quoted in $500.00 rannge. Does this seem like a good
deal.
I would like to use someone local and support the communitiy.
Was considering a quote from GLC.

The deal depends on the quality of the carpet. It's certainly in the ballpark. But what are you getting? The best quality is either a cut pile or loop with the clear backing material. The black rubber product is not worth much because it falls apart quickly. My cockpit carpet is 6 years old and still looks brand new. I looked up the price and Tiara charges about $700 for this option. However, the upper cockpit is quite large. It may be about the size or your entire cockpit in square feet. Make sure you buy the quality backing for a little more money. There is a sponsor on this web site that people have had good experience with.

I did get a quote from snapincarpet
and they said about 675.00 of course I have to put in my
own snaps.

The quote I got from the local guys does use the new bottom not the foam backing. Have had some feedback
from friends of friends who referred me.

Seems I will stick with the local guy.

Did you get a quote from the guy on North River, next to D Brother's? Last winter he quoted me around $500 and thats the upgraded backing also, he did my buddies boat and it looks good, no complaints. Thanks again for the tickets.

I got my replacement carpet from snapincarpet this summer. They have a backing called Aqualok that is not the foam based product that comes with the regular carpet. The color is called moonshine. I pretty sure my total was right around $675 with the upgraded backing. The carpet is fantastic.... the backing is better. I wash our carpets weekly which destroyed the OE foam backing.

Hey stranger. It's good to see you here again.

$500 is NOT a very good price for carpet without Aqualoc backing. Corinthian Marine (www.corinthianmarine.com) is the inventor and manufacturer of the Aqualoc backing, and just did a 2004 280 Sundancer with Moonshine Beber for $486 shipped. Most of the time you won't even need snaps with the Aqualoc backing, as it is so heavy and it stays in place. Shop around, there are a lot of people doing replacement carpet--just steer clear of any foam or rubber backings--vinyl ribbed is all you want.

Classic Boat Decks in MI is a good one! They stock Corinthian Marine Carpet as well

Hello,
The price for the 280 DA with the aqua-loc backing from www.snapincarpet.com is $578. No pattern or template needed. This pattern is on computerized file. I would recommend installing snaps as this carpet will scoot around as the pieces are not large enough to stay in place without.

Got new carpet in Friday from snap-in-carpet. Very pleased with it and the serivce I got from John and Cyndi. Communication was excellent thru out and got good advice. John even helping me out with a template design change at the last minute.

Good people to deal with.
