Anyone have pics of a darker color cockpit carpet? Long story short I had the dried out pebbly carpet backing syndrome. I tried saving them with the Durabak solution. I botched it by putting the first coat too thick and it ran through. So now it's in the hands of the snapincarpet crew.
My carpet color now is light tan. I'm thinking of going with something darker but I'd like to get an idea of what it looks like. I'm thinking a dark tan but also like the silver carpet on the 09 270 on searay.com. Any suggestions or pics much appreciated!

Dark = HOT

YES!

My parents have a green carpet... Ouch!

Besides, the "pebbled" berber does a good job at hiding dirt.

However, there are different shades of the pebbled stuff. I have samples in the store, but doesn't Snapincarpet have pics on their website? They used to have some "installed" pics.

Thanks, I found the "Our Work" link. I think I'll go with the Silver Mist. Now my wheels are turning and I want to put these carpets everywhere!

Has anyone ever done a contrasting edge? I'm thinking of doing a standard tan (exact replacement) but using a black edge. I have a black hull, and the tan edge gets dirty looking after a while.

Haven't seen it, but it sounds like it will look nice! Try Photoshop:smt001

I just had new carpet made and thats exactly what I did. All of my canvas is black so I had new stock Searay Pebble carpet bound with black edges. It looks great!

Even my canvas/carpet guy siad it was the firs time he had ever done black binding, but was impressed with the look.

We just got back from a morning cruise and I will try to remember to take some pics next time out.

Can't wait to see how it looks.

here are some pics I took today while at the boat. Carpet is new and has not had a chance to settle in completely.

Looks good, I like it. I'm going to do the same. Thanks for the pics.

Snapincarpet.com will send you samples. Just go to the "contact us" page and tell them the colors and they'll send them within a week.

capz, Did you order the silver mist? What did you use for the edges? Snapin doesn't have the Sea Ray Dunes color with the upgraded backing. So, I'm trying to get some ideas.

charlg,
I'm actually holding off for a couple weeks. I've got it in my head to buy a roll of rib-backed carpet, cut it and have the edges bound. I'm looking for something a little more plush, i.e higher surface weight, than what snapin has. I can't find a local source but I did find a company in GA who sells rolls wholesale on clearance. They have Berber and Saxony with the ribbed backing. If you're interested, send me a PM with your email and I'll send you their info and latest clearance list.

I went with the honey beige with the upgraded backing and got a cocoa binding that will match the teak table and dash.

Snap-In is a class act. I got my carpets quickly, but a few of the peices were cut backwards. Everybody (and businesses) make mistakes. It's how they are handled that makes the difference. I called the next day to tell them of the problem. After the apologies, they cut the new peices and shipped them out the following day. I am very happy with the product and the customer service.

I'm just about out of ideas for a diy solution. The only thing stopping me from going with snapin is I wanted something PLUSH. I got some samples from Corinthian and wasn't impressed. I went to Building 19 and found some carpet tiles with a very durable rubber backing. The 2X2 pieces were only $2 and HEAVY, so I wouldn't need the snaps. But I can't seem to find a mill that will ship a sheet uncut. Oh well it was worth a shot.
Charlg, how did you get snapin the measurements? I know you mentioned adding an inch to all sides in another thread. Did you send them the old carpets with notes or trace the pattern? Thanks!

I tried to make a plastic template (similar to what Snap In sells), but it was too difficult. So, I got brown paper approx. 3' wide and taped them together. Then I just layed the existing carpet down and traced. I wanted to expand some seams, so the people at Snap In told me to write on the template. If there was an edge that I wanted to expand, I just wrote "add 1/2"" with an arrow. They are easy to deal with. You won't be sorry. My total cost, and my SS has a lot of cockpit space, was $561. And that was with the upgraded backing. It does feel plush.
