I just got a nice letter from Sea Ray stating that they are closing the Oakland store soon. They gave me the name of the Sea Ray dealer for warrenty service closest to me in Arizona. It will be kind of hard to drive my boat to AZ for warrenty issues. The boat doesn't fit under most overpasses. Looks like Sea Ray is out of the northern CA area now.

We are neighbors of yours, P-25, and recall when you folks arrived. There is some good news in this closure. Jason Felix is going out on his own and his labor costs will probably go down. He was the reason that many of us kept going back to MM. His phone number is 510-314-7641. You may use my name if you wish: Bill Gillespie. He is factory trained and authorized in diesel and gas. The question is whether Sea Ray will use him as the factory representative, eg, will Arizona call him?

Good luck.

Bill, do you think Sea Ray will give the brand to another boat dealer in the area?

According to a former sales person, JT, the handling of the layoffs was very cold blooded, premeditated and "short sighted" with no information as to how warranty work would be handled. JT was very frustrated when he asked senior management the same question you have. As for the brand, that is a Sea Ray question (or Brunswick) and the only non-MM dealer on the West Coast is in LA (and excellent) and doing well.

Bill, I saw that you moved down my way not too long ago. I know Jason and he knows all the fun with my boat. I did not have an up to date phone number so I thank you for that. Hope to see you around. Thanks again for the number. Brett

That's not true. We have a great dealer here, but not close. Lake Union SeaRay in Seattle is the dealer I use and the closest to Northern California may be Trudeau's in Portland.

Aloha everyone - Has anyone had Jason do any work for their SR in the past few months since MM Oakland closed? Can anyone speak for his prices and skill? Thanks.

I haven't had Jason work on my boat since the closing of the MM stores around but he worked on it many time before and is good at what he does. I don't know of his prices but it will most likely be about what everyone else charges in the area. I often wonder who everyone else is using in the area for repairs and service.

Does anyone know if Jason travels up to the Delta to work on boats? I am in the Antioch Marina and will be needing a little help with a few items.

A buddy of mine uses him, he keeps his boat in Sac, so he will probably give you a hand.

Sweet, I'll keep his name and number. I had Chuck's Marine do my engine survey but he won't go out to Antioch and I am not going to motor all of the way to him just for service!
