Cleaning Brass

I need advice on cleaning brass sea strainers. I have been advised, by credible sources, that Tarn-X works well on them without much work. In looking at the Tarn-X website, it specifically says NOT to use it on brass. Now I am confused. Does anyone have first hand lnformation as to the use of this product on brass?

Tarn X is an acid, and not a very friendly one. Go to http://www.hermansilver.com/tarn-x.htm for more info. It will damage brass as well as silver.
