Anyone have a suggestion for dyeing or restoring a yellowed plastic GPS receiver? Mine looks yellow compared to other components on my arch...

This might be a good use for the Magic Eraser - it can damage labels/stickers since it's abrasive so be aware of that. I've used white wall cleaner on plastics before with good luck - but don't think I'd spray that where it could either mist or drip down to other items.

Grab some acetone on a small rag and it will clean right up. Follow shortly after with some other cleaner and a good wax.

Try Spray-Nine. It works well on plastic and is a lot more forgiving than acetone.

I've seen Simple Green bring back yellowed computer monitor shells to their normal color. Buy the concentrated version in the gallon jug at Home Depot, Lowe's, Menard's, etc.. Wear gloves, and use a strongish mix on a terry cloth towel. It would be even better if you could disassemble the GPS and just soak the empty case in a bucket of Simple Green for 10 or 15 minutes. Just soak, rinse, dry, and reassemble.

Paint it with Awlgrip..........and you will never have to deal with yellowing again. A close d-i-y is to use white epoxy appliance paint, but don't let epoxy dry between coats, shoot subsequent coats while the previous one is still tacky.
