I have just bought a boat with the Clarion CMD6 stereo. The wired remote control has power but no functions are showing up, on further investigation the stereo was not connected up. It seems that there is a 6pin cable floating about behind the system but both the stereo and remote control are 8 pin and therefore do not connect. has anyone came across this dilemma and any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Stuart

I think Clarion makes an adapter to go between the old remote and new stereo. I dont think you will get all functions. Better to check with Clarion.

When you say the remote has power, you mean the back light illumination for seeing it in the dark? Thats a different circuit than the remote functions. Yes, ive come this before. Seems the head unit and remote have been updated but not the old 6 pin extension cable. Dont get 2 6 to 8 patch cables, get the proper 8 pin extension and have the system work to its full potential.

Hi I have purchased the proper 8 pin extension and they work fine. Thanks. Now I have to run the extension from the remote to the stereo. Do you have any ideas on the easiest way to do this.
