I have a quick question. We have the Clarion CMD5 head unit and I am looking into the EA1276E iPOD interface. Does anyone have this on the head unit and is it worth purchasing.

Thanks:huh:

I have one and I would not bother. It only works with some iPODs and not all. The interface is "old school" in that you have to name 5 playslists "clarion1" clarion2 etc for them to play. You don't really scroll through playlists or songs very easily. IT does charge the older iPODs though so that may be an advantage.
Even though I have the adapter, I generally just use the Aux input on the CMD5 with an Aurex Bluetooth audio adapter I bought for about $30. Then you can wirelessly play the ipod, droid or whatever you want throught it.

I agree with creekwood. I've got two of them in my boat and we never use them. Its just easier to plug right into the aux in.

Thanks for the input guys. We are currently using the Aux In but we wanted to be able to change the music without having to go down into the cabin each time (I guess I am getting lazy LOL).

Thanks Again

Look into the bluetooth adapter route. You play your iPOD or Droid or any audio device with Bluetooth through the stereo from wherever you are. Range is about 30 to 40 ft so fine for my boat. This is the one I bought:

Thanks Creekwood. Can you tell me which remote which has the you have in the helm. I am still using the old one that came with the boat, but I am think of ordering the newer remote LCD (CMRC1SB) for the CMD5 and also the newer cable (M101RXC).

I just looked at that bluetooth and it will be purchased. I always get my husband something for the boat for Christmas.

Thanks Again

I am still using the original one. one reason I bought a CMD 5 was because it works with the original remote and i didn't want to rewire.

Thanks Creekwood for the info of the Bluetooth, I just ordered one for one of my husband Christmas presents. I will be using the original remote, because I don't want to replace the wiring either.
