350mag B3,
Holy crap, its like a spotlight in your face at night :wow: I cant find anyway to dim it if there is even a way to do so. Anybody know how or if at all possible? SB

SB-

The backlight on the LCD of that remote is powered by the single spade connector. I'm not sure if it would work, but you might try connecting that to the rest of the instruments lighting circuit which is controlled by the factory dimmer.

There is no dimmer on the 260DA. Gauge brightenss on the three instrument pods is done by using Smartcraft itself. You might try contacting Clarion directly to see if they have any suggestions. http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2007MarineAudio/index.html

My remote never bothered me at night and we both have the same boat and the same remote unit.

One thought would be to add a switch to the line that feeds power to the backlight of the CMD4. Then you could switch the backlight off when you wish.

There is one other thing you could try. Page seven of the Clarion Stereo Owners Manual gives instructions on adjusting the display contrast. I don't know if that will help with brightness or not and I am not sure if it also adjusts the remotes but you may want to give it a try and see what happens.

Mine is extremely bright  If yours doesnt bother you, then there has to be a variation in them, possibly a way to dim it. It really is like a flashlight in your face at night. Thanks for the contact, I'll give it a try. I may just end up adding in a switch though. SB

Considering the last suggestion of 'duct tape', I feel better about saying I use a rag.

I don't drive at night too much. The first time I noticed this blinding bright light, I blocked it with my hand. When my arm got tired I used a towel. The next time out I used duct tape (only thing handy) I guess I should come up with a clever electrical solution,(I am an EE) but the duct tape is always handy.
