I have a Clarion CMD4 auto system on board. I would like to connect an ipod touch through the AUX input. Found a set of unused rca jacks and connected my ipod but got no sound. I know the cable works cause I tested it on another auto device. Any suggestions?

The CDM4 has a couple settings you have to tweak to get it to work. Hit the menu and start scrolling through the options. There are some input sensitivity settings that have to be on high for it to work. You also need to make sure you connected them to RCA inputs not outputs.

There are only 2 rca jacks that have nothing plugged into them. Not sure if they are the input jacks or not. Manual not very helpful.

There are probably 2 sets of unused RCA's in the back. One set would be to supply the line outs to a dedicated sub the other (I think black wires) are for the inputs of an aux/mp3 player. Best bet is to mount one of the mp3 player inputs like this one from overtons.com. I drilled a small hole with a boring bit to mount it next to my head unit then just use a direct line in put to plug it in. Bear in mind you can't control the CMDA4 from th ipod. You can with the cmda5 but you need a special cable.

I just installed an ipod jack on my CMD4 and it works great. There are two sets of unused rca jacks on the back, a grey set and a red set. The red set is the aux input.

Clarion has a kit that is about $50 that will let you plug your ipod in directly with a ipod connector. It iwll not read what is on the Ipod but works great. I found my on ebay. By the way I have the same exact Boat but in Saguaro lake AZ
