Clarion 6 Not Working Properly

Does the standard remote work with the Clarion 6 unit? I know that the radio had been upgraded to the 6, however the remote on the helm is the same from the original unit. The unit tends to not come on sometimes and when it does it cuts off within 5 minutes. I cant believe its the unit, then why would it ever cut on? I have checked the amp and it gets power. It just cuts on when it wants to and then pops off. Dont really want to purchase a new unit at this time and have the same thing occur. Need some advice.

The CMD 6 came with a wireless remote so maybe that's what you need to find; perhaps the PO just left the old remote since he got the wireless. Wired remote is optional but the 6 is only compatible with the CMRC 5, 6 or7. If you do have an older one and it's connected, disconnect it and see if that cures your problem. Clarion has good documentation on its web site that may be helpful.
