I actually was in Allentown, PA on Tuesday and Wednesday when the 20+" hit Chicago. My wife had to deal with the mess but she had some help below. The second picture is the Snow Cone left on our Weber Grill. The snow had drifted so much that she could not get out the door so had to walk around and shovel her way up to the door and the path you see. The third picture is the path she had to dig to our dog run which had 4' of drifted snow in it that she had to clear a spot for the guys to do their business. The fourth picture is of our front walk that was left for me to clear today! This was the third largest snowfall on record in Chicago and I was around for the other two!

Snow like this is exactly why I don't live in a place like Chicago. About 6 or 7 years ago I got a job offer in Minnesota, and was told by the Admiral in no uncertain terms that the first time I was on the road and she got snowed in, I would return find all my crap on the lawn.

Here is another shot from inside at the snow cone on the grill that shows how deep the snow really got on our back deck.

Thanks for these photos....My wife grew up on the "South Side" .... South Shore High School.....we lived on the "North Side" for 3 years....great city, great people....very cold in the winter....I remember that well......

2-5-11 was suppose to get snow flurries today, so far the flakes have added up to four inches on top of the nine inches we received the other day. Went out to the ploe barn today to visit the lady. The bay is completly frozen over. I hope it melts befor May 1.

I went to lasalle mi to a boat salvage yard today,it was supposed to be nice down there(120 miles south) but as soon as i got off the hwy at cabelas in dundee it was a white out .There wasnt any funn walking in two ft of snow at checkers either and i still dont have stainless handrails for my bow.It took 4 hrs to drive home at 10-30 mph all the way on I-75.Maybe i should have bought one of the dozen snowmobiles they had for sale? nahh i just sold three i had and someone may have gotten a bit crabby about that.

I know in a few sort months this stuff is gone and the pond is back open. Here are a couple shots of what I woke up to.

Whoa......Great photos.....the depth of that snow by your garage......jeeezzz:wow::wow::wow:

DAYAMMMMMM that's a lot of snow. That's part of the reason why I live in SE Washington state. We had our annual snowfall around Christmas, it was about 2.5" and was gone in 3 days.

Having grown up in MI, the kinds of winters we have now are my kind of winters.

Bob, how out of sight (Crazy expensive) is the snow blower attachment for your tractor? I have an LT190, which can supposidly utilize the attachment, but I'm figuring the cheaper option might be to buy a stand alone unit. My cheapie Sears Craftsman single stage is being mocked by the snow this year.

The unit I have for my tractor is shaft drive while the unit for your tractor will be belt driven which should make it cheaper. The one I have is single stage which at the time I bought it for $1,600 was $500 cheaper than the 2 stage version. The dealer told me at the time it was not worth the extra money which is why I went with the single stage. If you look at the price of a 30"+ self propelled snowblower, the cost is pretty close if not more. However, the big difference with a snowthrower attachment, the tractor does the work while with a big walk behind you are fighting it the whole time. My tractor has power steering and AWD so my wife can easily do the driveway when I am out of town.

Bob, Bob,

Not sure I would let your wife read this last post!

Could cost your substantial "bling bling stuff"

Shhhhh!!

I won't forward this to her!

Dan

Bob.....is that an X500 or X700?

It's a X485 which was replaced by the X724 that is exactly the same only with 2 more HP.

Dan,
No sweat, the Admiral is OK with the situation but it will cost me a relocation to AZ when we retire so she no longer will have to plow snow in the Winter!

I understand.
Admiral is in Florida right now.
Giving me nothing but sh** about temps.

Have to start re-thinking this Northern Illinois/Lake Michigan stuff.
Have to wonder why 4 of my younger brothers and sisters live there full time,
with my mother there for the winter.

Hmmmm...as oldest I should be smarter than that!!
Dan

I still say....you are all crazy!
