Twelve boats left Charleston Harbor Marina May 5 for Beaufort's Taste of the Town Festival. The weather was cool and the weather gods threatened to dispense their liquid sunshine for the entire weekend. Everyone must be living well since the rain only happend at night and all around us. The smallest boat was 175 with a 55 Sundancer holding big boat bragging rights.
Our Marina was Downtown Marina in Beaufort which was adjacent to The Taste of Beaufort and the band. The floating docks were filled with a large varity of water craft. In the shot of the CSR Model in the background you can see an old historical boat. The owner has a crew come in from New Port News every 3 months to varnish his boat. It was amazing watching them in action.
This festival is put on each year and has grown each and every year since it's inception seven years ago. All of the local restaurants show off there best cuisine with inexpensive sampler dishes. The crab cakes and fried shrimp come higly reccomended and for dessert they had hand made ice cream. Dinner was sponsered by Hall Marine.
Sunday everyone left a little early as the rain gods were still hanging around. The bilge pumps were all given a work out early to empty the bilges from the night before.
Notice that in all of the pictures it is overcast and dark That would describe the weather perfectly all weekend. That kept the tempetures down which was great and best of all the rain was always in the distance.
