Ahhh Spring. Sometime this April I hope to move the boat North. Looks to be approx 800+ miles. I'm just looking to get north, stopping for food and gas (lots of gas). I plan on taking 6 days for the trip. I've been doing quite a bit of reading and route planning. Hints, tips, suggestions, and advice are all appreciated. Heck, if you have routing available on a garmin chip pm me and maybe we can work something out.

It looks like the spring migration is going to be busy this year. My previous average travel times have been discussed in the following current threads.

From Norfolk north:
Norfolk - Cape May (Ocean) 9 hrs
Norfolk - Cape May (Chesapeake & Delaware) 16 hrs

In the ocean the only place to stop is Ocean City MD (7 hrs).

I've done the ICW north of Cape May to Atlantic City once and won't do it again. In the ocean it's about 2 hrs from Cape May to the Abescon Inlet (Atlantic City), and another 1.5 hrs to the Barnegate inlet.

When planing I generally budget 1 weather day for every 4 cruising days. This helps avoid making stupid go-no-go decisions, and makes the trip a lot more fun.

My best cruising speed is around 26 mph and I budget a 250 mile fuel range. It would be helpful if posters would add this when looking for suggestions.
