This is something that I think I can do and need help to get the right stuff the first time. I know its alot of oil, I have 5 gallon pales.

any help here???:smt038

Be sure to get oil analysis kits from a reputable lab and send in samples. Warm engines first. Wear gloves. Have large freezer bags or some other method of encasing the filters as your remove them to keep the drips and oily mess out of the bilge. Buy good filters from Cummins.
Get you new oil at Tractor Supply (or wherever else doesn't get that "marine premium" for the same oil) in two gallon containers. Easy to handle a few jugs versus those five gallon pails.
I would reccomend a sealed container (I use an old plastic five gallon cooking oil container with a cap) for the drain oil. You don't want a spill going to the recycling drop off for the old oil.
Take your time. Good luck.

Rotella T 15W-40 should be a good choice but check manual specs to make sure. If you go to https://quickserve.cummins.com/ and enter your engine serial numbers you should be able to gain access to the specs as well as the oil change procedure for your engine, although from memory I don't think there's anything complicated. In addition to Tractor Supply, Walmart carries Rotella. Try the 2.5 gallon size, I find that to be the ideal balance weight for lugging to/from the boat. Do you have an oil exchange system installed?

Rotella 15w-40 is what I use and you are correct, they are 2.5 gallon jugs. And with the Reverso oil changer, you are also correct....nothing complicated.
DIY saves about $500 too. All filters, oil, sample kits, etc run about $300 for mains and genny on my boat. Having it done a couple times ran about $800 from Cummins or other local providers.
