If you have changed the impellers on a 320, could you please explain to me how you get a wrench behind the pump to remove the six bolts? It seems impossible to get enough leverage to loosen the nuts. I can't believe how little room there is to work with.

I feel for you. I took one look at the raw water pumps and decided it was worth it to pay someone else to do the job. It took him a couple of hours to get each pump out, but in the end it was worth it as both pump were badly scored inside. Painfull as that discovery was on the wallet, it was better to replace them now vice having one or both fail on the water.

It really is a crappy design on Merc's part.

I have found it easier to remove the whole pump assembly from the engine as one unit. There are 4-5 bolts on the front of the engine that hold the bracket on. You need to remove the fanbelt and fuel line, then the bolts, then it is easier to get the hoses on and off. Then you can take the whole unit to the bench for dissasembly, insprection, and repair.

I agree with LMBoat. Not as easy as writing a check, but not too bad. But, I do have outdrives, so I have a lot of room in my engine compartment.
