A couple friends and I are looking to go on a little Memorial Day weekend adventure, possibly an overnighter.
I'm at Lock One Marina in Waterford, NY... just north of Lock 1 on the Champlain Canal, and would like to stay within a couple hours by boat... but going further isn't completely out of the question. I'm guessing heading south would be better for time vs distance as it's two locks then open water
Anyone have thoughts on the Hudson River Islands State Park? I'm guessing it's probably pretty crowded that weekend as it's when it opens. Is it hard to get a spot on the dock?
Any nice places to just drop anchor and hang out for a day? I see all the downstaters/NYC people talking about places down in their area where they all converge, but is there any place like that upstate?
