I am having a hard time understanding something that is happening on this forum. As a result, I am asking for clarification in an open thread (instead of PMs) and for the opportunity to express my feelings.

From where I am sitting, it seems that the administrator/moderator(s) are practicing what I will call "selective censorship". There are certain posts which get closed/locked before all forum members have an opportunity to comment or vote (http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16660), yet there are other posts in which forum members with a poor attitude and even poorer advice are allowed to continue.

against anyone and everyone depending on his mood or amount of substance abuse then that is certainly your choice.

Please be aware then that it is MY choice to spend the $1500 I just spent on a life raft with your firm; that it is my choice to be a Platinum Sponsor of the forum; that it is my choice to leave this forum for a forum a little more friendly to those that support any such forum; or to start my own forum in my secure computer data center where such nonsense by wingless types would not be tolerated.

fc3 makes this very suggestion.
Simple solution:
If the admins won't send the trolls away, then leave the trolls here alone with the admins. They can then enjoy each others company. The rest can go somewhere else. Lots of us have servers.

I come here to learn from the others on this forum, to share the knowledge that I have gained in owning the 4 boats that I have owned, and to engage in the camaraderie that belonging to such a group brings. I also come here to make this forum a place where folks can come for Sea Ray and general boating knowledge and feel comfortable that the knowledge they are receiving is accurate.

I do not come here to listen to a bunch of crap from a forum member with a poor attitude and crummy advice, especially when I know such persons can be banned by you and your moderators. This feeling appears to be shared by several others on this forum. Hopefully, other members will express their feelings in this thread.

That said, it is your forum. You run it the way you wish. If you want to take input from the members on running a better forum, that is appreciated. If you wish to ignore input from the members, then that is also a choice you are free to make.

We await your decision so that we may make ours.

AWE C'MON GUYS! Cant we all just try to get along? I have noticed that sometimes THREADS are closed when a person starts another thread with same topic instead of continuing thru on the current thread. It is frustrating also when some "voices" just criticize others comment when they are only meant to be helpful. So what if soem fo us are ill informed.....I will say it first......"I always say what I mean.....and not necessarily mean what I say". I just want to become a better boater and also work toward solving WORLD PEACE.

While I agree with Rick regarding inaccurate info being passed along, I don't agree that any individual has to be banned. I do not post a lot on this forum only because I don't have the experience that others do. I will comment on a question if I have the same boat and the same issue and am more than happy to share my expeience if I solved a problem but only when I'm sure what I'm talking about. I already know who's advise to follow and who's I should'nt. I think the moderators do a great job and don't think it's up to them to decide what advise is good and what advise isn't. The moderators will have to spend all their time double checking advise to make sure what's right and what's not. Do we all think that is their job? I chose to ignore the crap and listen to the people who know what their talking. No matter what forum you belong to you will see the good, the bad and the ugly, this forum is no exception. I have learned however, that this forum is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to belong to.

Is that you Greg?

And the idea is to keep it that way. No one is saying that everyone has to be perfect or 'right' in every post. That's not what the site is about. But damn...admit it when you've made a mistake, accept another's opinion, leave your attitude at the office or move on!!!! OH.....And learn how to 'read' humor.....some of the stuff here is just funny....I've been the brunt of some of that humor and man I sit behind my laptop and laugh out loud...

If you want to run a forum that allows folks like Mr.Wingless to espouse his vitriol against anyone and everyone depending on his mood or amount of substance abuse then that is certainly your choice.

Seems to me that Mr. Wingless is directing his comments to one member only, not "anyone and everyone", and that one member has, in the opinion of some, earned that vitriol. Unfortunately, there are more than a handful here that believe this one member can change water into wine. I happen to think he's just an arrogant jackoff with a big boat and an obscene amount of free time. I am envious of both.

As for the quality of Mr. Wingless' advice, well, ANYONE that comes to an internet forum and follows the "expert" advice of ANYONE is a fool and gets what they paid for and deserve. Read your manuals. Consult reliable accredited mechanics and the manufacturer. Educate yourselves.

Mr. Wingless has directed his comments at more than me. Off the top of my head, I can think of a half dozen including Wes the moderator being constantly referred to as "Monkey Boy." You should be more informed.

Why do you hang out here? If the advice is bad as you say, is it for social reasons?

Mistercomputerman, here is what this site is about -

"Welcome to CSR, a website for Sea Ray owners to enthusiastically discuss all aspects of Sea Ray ownership. Whether you are looking for your first Sea Ray, or have owned one for years, you are sure to feel “at home” on CSR."

If at any point we misled you I'm sorry. The only things that get censored are things like the post above where some profanity was used that will get edited by me when I'm done with this as some people like for their younger family members to use this site. If you are not OK with us making the content here a little more family friendly then I'm sorry again.

In regards to you wanting us to delete a 10 word sentence by wingless, however we should leave up entire threads devoted to making fun of wingless, well I don't quite understand that logic. Four Suns has thrown jab after jab at wingless, most we let go, none as far as I remember have been censored. And Wingless has thrown many back. I think they need each other. Closing a thread is not censorship, changing a thread is. This forum has a great feature that allows you to ignore users. You can easily ignore Wingless, then you won't even know he exists. Anybody who is not ignoring him either likes him, or likes the drama that surrounds him. I wish I could ignore him but I can't. He sends me PM's every freaking week complaining about how slow this site is. Its not our job as moderators to decide who is and who is not popular. Wingless is obviously not popular, and I don't understand why he sticks around here, but thats not for me to decide. He's welcome, just like every other Sea Ray Owner. If he breaks the rules then we'll boot him. He would be the first to get booted in that case (thats how much we censor).

Just use the ignore feature, and he won't even exist. Four Suns should use the ignore feature too, but that obviously would not be as fun.

Every site has drama queens, including ours. Its the nature of the internet. There are some people, like Frank W, that won't get anywhere near drama. On the other boating sites I'm on I won't get anywhere near drama. Whats the point? Here I have to as the drama queens demand it.

So hopefully that answers your question.

I just took your advise Jim....I put wingless on my ignore list......wow....I feel better already!!!!!

I tried the ignore list. It doesn't work. When someone quotes the retard, it shows up. Plus, the person doesn't go away.. vBulliten leaves a message like "wingless has posted a response here and you can't see it."

Damn....I feel sick all over again.....If I'm gonna get half the story from 'quotes', and annoying messages from vBulletin, then I want the whole story so I can reply....He's off my ignore list again.....call a medic....

First of all It was me who dubbed Wes "monkey boy", so it is you who should be better informed. Moron.
As for why I hang out here, it's purely entertainment value. Any technical information I gleen is not from the likes of you. You don't even break the top 10. People like Azureyes and Gereksen possess far more knowledge.

As for the personal attacks by Mr Wingless, they came soley in response to yours and after numerous attemps to get the moderators to get you to cease. Fat chance. But, like Jim says above you've done more than your share. So if a guy happens to make a comment about some fictitious boater with 4 stupid kids, a couple of angry dogs and an ugly wife, well, turnabout is fair play...

Simply put, No. There's always going to be bad guys in the world that no matter how hard everyone else tries, it is just not possible to get along with that person. Try whirled peas. It's an attainable goal.

Unfortunately, there are more than a handful here that believe this one member can change water into wine.

While I know that wine can be gawd awfully expensive, it's not my cup of tea. Sorry about that! What I'm looking for is someone who can turn water into gasoline. ...or diesel, which would give me a huge excuse to upgrade! Soon as I can find that guy, I'm taking off on a long, long trip.

Well, yeah of course! Have you seen Frank? No way anyone would take him for any kind of queen, drama or otherwise. If someone did, he'd be looking at the wrong end of a Cat backhoe.

You must be wingless. At least your jackassedness is something you share. and your lack of information.. Why would you feel you have the right to call Wes a Monkey? Hell... that's even over the line for me. Seems like you get angry about a lot of stuff.

You may want to review history on when wingless started attacking me Mr. angry-with-life-man. This is the thread where the guy decided to get like Mr. Unibomber:

http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14283&highlight=solder

He actually started on Frank W first.

He's also attacked a lot of other people that disagree with him. Go check it out...

I've never really gone out and tried to "compare" my knowledge with anyone else. Didn't know it was a contest. I've posted lots of question on this site about things I didn't know along with answers I did know. For the things I didn't know, I even took pictures and posted the discovery process along the way. I think the pictures and explanations of things of "been there done that" are appreciated by a lot of people here and that just eats at you for some reason. I do throw a flag up when people put up bullsh!t which seems to really bother you. It seems to entertain you though. Glad I could help.

I guess you don't want a book then?

Well, i'm going to weigh in even though no one cares.

There has only been issues with a few members over the years, at least as long as I've been involved. The first one I remember is cap'n something or other that thought the world was against him for buying a 240DA or whatever he had. Then there was the goth dude who wanted to party. Then there was BK who had issues with apple. Now wingless. They come, cause a stir, get pimp slapped and seem to go away. Wingless will soon go away. Being a worthless dick takes a lot of energy and these aren't such young guys. When boating season begins, slip neighbors will start to complain and their attention is drawn to other things like telling them the best way to mark their anchor lines and what plunger will keep their vacuflush working forever. They will loose interest in playing the retard and move on to more important things like defendents in lawsuits.
