Caterpillar mechanic in Kent Island, MD area

Is it overheating? If not why not just run it back to VA (7 Hours or so?) and have it done in your home port?

I was thinking the same thing. If they are running fine, but just "due for service", run them home and get on your local guy's service schedule. When was the last time they were serviced?

Unknown, if ever - not documented.

No, it's not overheating.

I have access to many marine diesel mechanics while it's in Kent Narrows. Once in VA, not so much. So my thought process is get them done in Kent Narrows, do everything else myself, including valves and fuel rack adjusted, with my GFs brother-in-laws help once in VA. I have already purchased fuel filters, thermostats, belts, fuel primer pump and oil filters. CAT is having a 15% off filter sale so I went ahead and got oil filters for a future date.

The Aftercoolers have 2 sides…..the inlet air side and the cooling side. If the cooling side is fouled, the engines will run consistently warm once you load the engines. If the intake air side is fouled it restricts the i9ntake air and the engine that is fouled will soot up the transom. Other than that look for soot on the intake side of the engines and water leaks. No leaks, no sooting, temps over 195˚, then keep running the boat a while longer.
