First five minutes inside little harbor.

Rather large gill shark on the hook inside little harbor. Retrieving our hook proved to be a little hazardous.

I haven't been shark fishing in a long time, I've never seen a gill sharks, but that looks a lot like a leopard shark. What's the diff?

To be honest with you I was on my cell phone the entire time with a captain of a sport-boat that I know sending pics. We were not after sharks but we were hitting them very hard and I had no background with salt water fishing, so I was sending pics and getting instructions on what they were and how to handle each fish. The way he explained it to me was more then three gills toss it back. I was prepared for tuna and calico bass it just seems the sharks were more fun. This captain was coming until two days before I left and his wife had an accident so he helped via the cell phone. Sharks are very difficult as I found, the ones we keep had to clubbed in the head, tail and throat cut and left hanging upside down for hours before they would die. Very messy. You may see from my pics that I removed my rear seats before trip to avoid any blood or tearing damage.

I go to Catalina all the time. There are small leopard sharks all over the coast of the island. I see them swimming from the boat to shore. Especially by Moonstone Cove.
