I have a pair of CAT 3126s on my SeaRay. The Port helm oil pressure gauge is very bouncy, and wavers all over the place. The engine mounted oil pressure gauge is steady. Also, I swapped the helm oil pressure gauges, and the port helm oil pressure gauge is still bouncy after the swap.

So, I believe that I have eliminated the helm gauges, and the oil pressure is OK, given the engine mounted gauge being steady.

I noticed a previous thread on this matter, here:

And here is a picture included in the previous thread:

A few questions:
1. Is the oil pressure sender for the helm mounted gauge, item A, or item B, or something different?
2. Can we confirm that the oil pressure sender for the engine mounted gauge is another item?
3. Can the oil pressure sender for the helm mounted gauge, be changed with the oil full?

thanks,

Dave

Hey Rick, thanks so much! It looks like the connector is held on with a bolt, so that is something for me to check, (tightness, clean), before I order a replacement.

And, I guess I can follow the wiring from the engine mounted gauge, to see where the 'mechanical' sender is located, (just for my own curiosity).

Thanks again!!

Dave

Try cleaning or replacing the ring connector on the end of the wire that is attached to the sender.

As it turns out, the connector was faulty and needed to be replaced. I cleaned up the post on the sender as well. All good now. Thanks for everyone's input.

Connection @ sender, connection at engine wiring harness, connection @ back of helm gauge all possible places to review... don't ask me how I know :)
