CAT special application oil

You will get lots of opinioins on this, but I have to question the use of synthetics in pleasure boats since one of the main reasons to use it is to extend the oil change interval.

We very seldom run the recommended number of hours and end up changing the oil annually rather then in "X" no. of hours. Additionally, extending the oil change interval seems counter productive to me. Removing combustion by products and moisture with the oil oil in an oil change is desirable so why would we want to leave it in the engine longer?

I'll stick with the factory recommendation for my engines.....CF-4 SAE 40 for our temps.

By the way, for anybody still wondering where you can get the Rotella T, or Chevron Delo, these are available in Walmart, Advanced Auto Parts, and Napa Auto Parts. Walmart only has it in 1 gal containers, but Napa has 5 gal, and not sure of Advanced Auto.
