Cat 3116 diesel oil change

Getting ready to start my first oil change...bought 15w-40 oil and a Jacbo oil pump...but no engine manual for the oil filter. Does anybody know what part number the oil filter is or a CAT phone number to ask? Thanks in advance!

The caterpillar number is 1R-0714 for the oil filter. Fuel filters are specific to your arrangement number, so you will have to take the engine serial number and arrangement number to a Cat dealer and get the right filter......but it is either a 1R-0750 or 1R-0751, the mount gasket and/or threads are different.

You will also want to return your 15W40 multiviscosity oil and get SAE 30 or 40, or Caterpillar SAEO (PEHP9516) instead, depending upon your temperatures See Cat publication # SEBU-6251-12, beginning on about page 16 for the reasons and current recommendations.

The Caterpillar help desk is very good . !-877-228-9900 . I also agree that you need straight weight oil . I always used Shell Rotella 30 weight up in wisconsin .
