My 2003 220 bowrider has those storage shelves on each side of the boat. Below the bottom shelf there is a carpet covered board that extends from the bottom of the shelf to the fiberglass deck the full length of the cockpit. This is a problem as this carpet stays wet and traps dirt/gunk/etc.

Sorry I don't have a picture so hopefully you will all understand what I am talking about.

Has anyone removed these boards to see what is behind there? Does anyone want to take a guess?

I have the same carpeted boards running the length of my cockpit as well.

When cleaning the boat, I scrub it with a damp washcloth then rinse. I'm not sure what is behind them, nor how they are actually connected.

I dont really notice mine getting very wet, except for when I'm cleaning the inside of the boat, or when we are caught in a down pour.

yeah those are the 2 times I'm talking about. Rear left get wet when kids get on the boat. I have the walk thru that every one uses.

Ah, ok. I do not have the walk thru, I have the full sun pad. Almost everyone loves to walk right across the middle of it too, :smt021 so they end up getting just the carpet wet, and most of the water drains underneath the bench before it gets to the sides.
