New here - 05 290 AJ twin 350 mag v-drives. Home port Marina Del Isle.

Need to replace the carpet - black backing flaking off and sticking in the non skid. Any reccomendation on the type or manufacturer to look at in replacing or any reccomendations of a carpet person that is good in the marblehead area.

Your feedback would be appreciated. - Thanks

I had the same issue with backing flaking, and at times sticking to the decking. Rather than replacing with OEM, I went to a local carpet store, found a commercial grade tan indoor/outdoor carpeting that had a planking effect mimicking the look of teak. I traced the old carpet on butcher paper gave it to the carpet store and they cut out the five or six pieces need to cover my deck. I then laid the carpet out to test fit, cut it to the precise pattern I needed, and then took it back to the carpet store to have them bind the edges. The entire material, binding, and their labor (edge binding) cost me $285. It has lasted three years and still looks great in spite of several adult beverage (wine included) spills. It was a fun project and well worth the time. The big positive is the number of colors and patterns available in the commercial carpet line vice OEM replacement.

Good luck,
