So my carpet was a mess, it was the light colored factory carpet almost 10 years old now and it was dirty and stained on top and the backside was all worn out and degrading leaving a black mess everywhere. It was to the point where I removed the carpet all together and just left it in my garage. Well I decided this weekend it was time to fix it. So I did some reading here and tried the Plasti dip in a can from Home depot. It worked well, I didnt do anything to the carpet but shake as much of the loose crap off before I began spraying. I did 3 coats (2 cans) of the stuff. Sorry no before pics, but I think many of you know what I was dealing with. Here it is all done. Time will tell how long it will hold up.

As far as the topside went, well I used a hand pump multipurpose sprayer I had, put a gallon of warm water with 4oz of bissell carpet cleaning solution and sprayed it down heavy. Soaked it really, then I ran my carpet scrubber over it, only using the rotating brushes to work out the stains. Then I took the power washer to it, sprayed the Sh*t out of it until all the soap was gone. Then I hung it over the railing of the deck to dry overnight and here it is. Much cleaner and brighter. Im very happy how it turned out.

Looks Good! My carpets are about 4 years old now and starting to show the wear. I will be interested in how long yours holds up.

You might want to consider installing a foam pad under the carpet also. Eco Foam comes in rolls from Home Depot...real cheap. Cut to fit. Provides a soft walking surface and spacing between the carpet and decking will breathe. Worked great for me.

I like this idea - especially the breathability factor.
